Tara Gives the Welcoming Introduction

Good evening, everyone, Thanks you all for coming. It’s an absolute honour to stand here tonight and introduce someone who means the world to me—not just because she’s my mother, but because she is truly one of the most courageous, inspiring, and deeply loving people I known. Tonight, we celebrate the launch of her book “Healing the Mother Wound” a courageous and personal journey in search of inner peace. This book is not just pages bound together; it’s a raw and honest account of a life lived with intention, with strength, and with an unshakable desire to heal.

After the loss of her own mother, my mom was set on a quest to be at home inside herself and find the healing she needed to move forward in life to a greater and higher place. Through her words, we travel with her—from childhood into adulthood, through grief, through complex family relationships, across continents and cultures—as she sought not only healing, but transformation. Her constant care for her family, her instinct to protect and understand even when in pain, shines through on every page.

This book is a reflection of a life that didn’t always follow the rules or fit the mould. She has always been an example for both my brother and I in how well she carried herself in a society that felt she didn’t confirm to what she should have. She instilled great values for learning and progressing through life with a look into different worlds that shows us a different life to the norm. She has always been an example of grace, of resilience, of curiosity, and of how to carry yourself in a world that doesn’t always know how to carry you.

She opened our eyes to other ways of thinking and being and taught us to never stop learning or growing. Whether she was working with orphans abroad, sitting in silent meditation with Mother Meera, or just sharing hilarious adventures with Dee—some of which left us in stitches and others slightly terrified—she was always living fully and authentically. Her life’s work, her travels, her pain, her healing—it’s all here. And tonight, we get to celebrate not just a book, but a woman who has turned her story into something powerful and beautiful for others to read, to feel, and to grow from.

So, with all the love and pride in my heart, please join me in welcoming the author of this extraordinary journey—my incredible mom Marita Lyons.
